At MECU, security, protection from fraud, and personal privacy are a top priority. That’s why we created the MECU Total Protection Guarantee. It is our pledge to safeguard your funds and your privacy.
100% Fraud Coverage. If any unauthorized transactions occur on your MECU accounts due to usage of our online or automated telephone banking services, or fraudulent Visa Debit Card or Visa credit card signature transactions, we guarantee that your liability will be zero dollars ($0).
Complete Bill Payment Protection. When you use online bill payment, we take great care to ensure that your payments are processed exactly as requested. In the unlikely event that your payment is not sent as instructed and we cannot swiftly resolve the problem, we will completely reimburse you for the payment amount, as well as any related late fees or finance charges.
Advanced Online Account Security. Our advanced security measures include 128-bit encryption on our Web site, the highest level of protection for Internet communications and financial transactions. In addition, we require the use of unique user-created username and alphanumeric passwords to prevent unauthorized access to your account.
As an additional layer of security, along with requiring you to enter your username and password, your log-in also includes a temporary access code.
Federal Insurance Plus Additional Private Insurance. MECU provides you the highest combination of federal and private savings insurance available. Your MECU savings are insured to $250,000 by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA), a U.S. government agency. In addition to federal coverage, your MECU savings are backed by an additional $250,000 of protection from Excess Share Insurance, a subsidiary of American Share Insurance, the nation's largest private deposit insurer. Individual Retirement Accounts at MECU are insured separately by the NCUA up to $250,000.
Protecting Your Privacy. We value the trust you have placed in us to protect your personal information. We consistently strive to go above and beyond the legal requirements. We never sell any information about you to any third parties. We only disclose information about you with financial service providers with whom we have agreements. These service providers act on our behalf and have agreed in writing to keep the member information we provide them confidential. You may read our Privacy Policy to learn more.
Your Responsibilities. Protecting your security and your privacy is a responsibility the credit union shares with you. To be eligible for our Total Protection Guarantee, you must abide by the terms and conditions of your existing MECU account agreements.
